Childhood Accidents and Interventions

Purpose of Course
The purpose of this program is to explain to parents the risky accidents that can be seen in infancy and childhood, related to growth and development (drowning, electric shock, poisoning, etc.) and the protection and intervention methods for these accidents.

Content of Course
The program content includes;
-Protection and intervention from accidents that may occur in newborns aged 0-1 months (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
-Protection and intervention from accidents that may occur in infants aged 1-1 months (drowning in water, foreign object aspiration)
-Protection and intervention from accidents that may occur in play children aged 1-3 years (foreign object aspiration, home accidents)
-Protection and intervention from accidents that may occur in preschool children aged 3-6 years (traffic accidents, injuries)
-Protection and intervention from accidents that may occur in school children aged 6-12 years (traffic accidents, gunshot wounds)
-Protection and intervention from accidents that may occur in adolescents aged 12-18 years (suicide, substance use, gunshot wounds) Emergency interventions

Target Audience of the Course
Since the program covers risky situations and basic vital interventions that may occur in children according to their growth and development periods, the target audience consists of parents, young adults planning to become parents, and university students.

Outcome of the Course
A Certificate of Participation will be given.

Duration of Course
It is planned to be 2 hours/14 weeks/3.5 months in the fall semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
